We are delighted that Ekta Events will be delivering the opening ceremony of the World Police & Fire Games in partnership with Belfast City Council, Firepoise and other creative partners. The spectacular ceremony will take place on the 1st August 2013 in a specially constructed outdoor arena at the city’s iconic Kings Hall venue.

The games takes place from 1 - 10 August 2013, and we aim to attract 25,000 visitors from over 70 countries. This will include an estimated 10,000 competitors competing in around 57 sports, plus 15,000 friends and family.

The Games represent an amazing opportunity to raise Belfast's profile internationally and leave a lasting legacy for Northern Ireland. It is estimated that it will inject between £16.3m and £21.4m into the local economy.

Rama & Sita

The South Asian Dance Academy work with outdoor spectacle company Walk the Plank to bring you a new summer outdoor production.

Rama & Sita is a large scale participatory arts project combining shadow play, dance, performance, narration and pyrotechnic animation to tell the story of the ‘Ramayana’ - the epic and traditional Hindu story of love, loyalty and friendship. The outdoor production uses puppetry and Bharatanatyam classical Indian dance, performed behind a giant screen and punctuated by special effects and pyrotechnics.

ArtsEkta will collaborate with renowned outdoor spectacle company Walk the Plank and Edinburgh based dance company Dance Ilhayami, aswell as the company’s own South Asian Dance Academy and local theatre students from Belfast Metropolitan College to create this new production which will debut during the opening night of the Belfast Mela – NI’s largest world music and arts festival. The project which is principally supported by the Arts Council of England’s Strategic Touring Programme, will create a new benchmark for South Asian dance in Belfast, leave a strong skills legacy for the dance and theatre sectors, ensure a high level of community participation and deliver outstanding cultural product for audiences to experience, appreciate and enjoy as part of an established civic festival.

A New Era

Dubbed as one of few professional ethnic arts agencies across Ireland, Ekta Events launches as sister company to multi-award winning arts organisation – ArtsEkta.

Ekta Events was launched in 2012 as a direct response to the growing demand for professional ethnic arts and artists to deliver a variety of different services across different settings. The company has developed a strong commitment and reputation for providing high quality artistic and event management expertise. In fact, we are the only company in Ireland delivering this service.

Ekta Events is a registered community interest company, and wholly owned trading subsidiary of charitable parent ArtsEkta Ltd. This means that all profits generated through the company are re-invested back into the charity to further its social aims and objectives.
